The Nordic wood table, designed by Romain Jeantet, gives the dining room a convivial feel; the beautiful bench seat was designed by the architect. Hidden behind the large island unit and without floating cabinetry, the kitchen is deliberately discreet

The architect’s primary challenge was to adapt the flat’s original layout to the requirements of modern family life. For one, the arrangements of the rooms had to be completely revamped to allow for free flow and easy movement. "The entry hall used to open directly onto the living room," explains Julie. "I had it closed, but left a window at eye level so you can still get the nice view over the living room when you come in. Now, the corridor leading to the living room adds a sense of journey and when you arrive, you can admire the full panorama on the curved wall through the aperture."
The kitchen used to be located in the back, which is far from practical today but typical of old Parisian flats. It adjoined the dining room; both areas now face the living area. Agathe also requested that their bedroom have an en-suite bathroom added. To that end, the extremity of the corridor was annexed, and transformed into a dressing room and a bathroom next to the bedroom. A framed glass
