Though white can sometimes seem cold and sterile, this space is quite the opposite. It’s filled with humorous touches. There’s a kitschy collection of religious curiositie­s in one corner, as well as pendant lamps made of bottles and rows of Japanese lanterns painted by Hervé. "We believe that objects create the atmosphere and the frame in which to set the scene. I can totally change the style and atmosphere of a room by modifying the decoration much more easily than if I had to repaint the walls," shares Sandrine.

Spanning three floors, there’s plenty of space for the family of four to indulge in their own interests. The ground-floor living room is where everyone converges, while the two other floors house their bedrooms. "Our children, Paul and Fleur, literally follow us with their games from the
