Even the hallway isn’t spared from the children’s dancing and playing – and that’s precisely the way they intended it to be. "We didn’t want the hallway to be dull. For us, it’s also a living area as any other room." The dining room is another important place; at its centre is a large table, handmade by Hervé’s father, that can sit up to 12 guests. As avid cooks, the couple entertain almost every week. "We always have friends over – they’re always welcome here," stresses Hervé.

Though the house’s size and historic structure can appear daunting in terms of decoration, Sandrine approached it the same way she would dress herself. "It’s a happy mix of styles. There may be things that don’t match perfectly, but that adds a surprise factor," she says. "We laugh that our home looks a bit like ‘old France’ but we wanted to keep that traditional touch." The blending of old and new was achieved by pairing vintage pieces with iconic furniture and throwing in a bit of kitsch. Sandrine explains, "It’s important not to take it too seriously."

房子樓佔三層，為一家四口帶來充裕空間，各自投入個人興趣中。地下的客廳是大家聚集的地點，另外兩層則為睡房。Sandrine說：「孩子Paul和Fleur確會跟著我們從客廳走到廚房玩樂。」走廊也不失為孩子跳舞玩樂的好地方——主要用途亦不過如此。「我們不想走廊過於呆板。它跟全屋其他地方一樣是生活空間。」飯廳是另一焦點所在，當中放有Hervé父親手製的大桌，能容下12人。夫婦們熱愛下廚，幾乎每星期均會宴客。Hervé重申：「我們對朋友時來到訪無任歡迎。」
