Lack of light was another issue Peggy had to address, which was easily solved by the clever use of glass sliding doors and atelier windows. "I put one between the bedroom and living area so that light can go through between the spaces. The partition helps create privacy as well as maximise the square footage," says Peggy. Enlarging the windows by the bedroom and replacing walls with windows (even the corner walls), has resulted in a coherent space where one can move freely.

While there are fewer places on which to hang art, the upside is the generous flood of natural light that is immediatel­y noticeable upon entering the flat. Luckily, the apartment is situated next to a small park, which enhances the feeling of openness and offers a view of greenery. This is something
