’Tis the Season

Ev­ery year, many are con­tent to put up a Christ­mas tree and call it a day, while for oth­ers, the ques­tion of how to dec­o­rate comes up with thought­ful reg­u­lar­ity. The season upon us is an ex­er­cise in nos­tal­gia and the abodes fea­tured in this is­sue evoke that, while also pre­sent­ing mod­ern hol­i­day dec­o­rat­ing schemes that aren’t re­stricted to a red-and-green mo­tif.

Also in this is­sue are spe­cial homes that, while not os­ten­si­bly fes­tive, will make you feel giddy inside, with views of Paris (Pg 104) and Tuen Mun’s Golden Beach (Pg 116) con­jur­ing a magic of their own. In our Good Taste sec­tion, we in­tro­duce Ichu Peru, re­cently opened in Hong Kong by ac­claimed chef Vir­gilio Martínez of Lima’s Cen­tral restau­rant (Pg 136). You’ll also find a travel guide to New York, a thrilling des­ti­na­tion to visit any time of year, but es­pe­cially at Christ­mas (Pg 153). And to­gether with florist Cherie Yip of The Spring Is Here, we pro­pose a more con­tem­po­rary ap­proach to gift wrap­ping (Pg 144).
