Watch This Space

-

For our first issue of the year, we assemble key news in design and culture, and inspirational homes in Hong Kong, Berlin, and Manila that will get you excited to see new possibilities in your spaces. In our Report section, we cover the trends that are poised to impact the way spaces are being designed, and subsequently, influence the manner in which we live, not only in 2019 but in the years to come.

One of the significant directions that we spotlight this month is adaptive reuse, a practice that has received plenty of attention in Hong Kong. Despite the thrill of modernity, this conscious effort to conserve, repurpose, and ultimately decrease our ecological footprint is a practical recourse that also happens to bring forth opportunities for a community to revel in its heritage and culture. Sustainability in design deserves more champions than ever, and we’re pleased to highlight the work of local design firm Liquid Interiors, which strives to drive that point across in each of their projects – particularly in a new development in Clearwater Bay, featured on pg 70.

More than ushering in a new calendar year, there are a handful of things we’re excited about at Home Journal. Big things are coming for both our magazine and our website, and we can’t wait to unveil what we’ve been working on very soon.

Cheers and a happy new year!
