Tis the Season for style

-

Two years of travel restrictions haven’t stifled our curiosity about what’s going on in the world.

We might have been stuck at home, but still our thirst for knowledge when it comes to real estate and home design endures. So this issue is here to satiate that curiosity as we have scoured the globe to bring you a curated list of spectacular homes and real estate new on the market from different locales. We’ve also attended to the needs of the season with decoration tips to brighten up your home over Christmas.

Our cover is dedicated to a charming Alpine chalet perched on the hillside of Crans-Montana – a Swiss town at an altitude of 1,500 metres that boasts quintessential mountain scenery. Governed by squid inky blue that echoes its surrounding landscape, the repurposed home of some 70 years of age is now a cosy, glamorous living space punctuated with classic chalet elements, offering its owners all the comforts of winter cosiness. Find out more about the renovation on page 48.

Over in London, an apartment near Regent’s Park, exudes the much-needed vibe of a five-star hotel (page 58); and in California, outdoor and indoor blends seamlessly at a home in a classic English country house-styled for year-round relaxation.

In this special festive edition, we present to you a trio of Christmas features to get you in the holiday mood. Leading the way is a list of seasonal items – from Yuletide ornaments to winter-induced furniture – that warm up your home just in time for Christmas (page 32). In Conversation (page 84), interior designer Meng Jing, from Common Room Home & Living, offers up tips on smart Christmas décor, and in Editor’s Pick (page 24), we present to you a roundup of our favourite furniture and home accessories brands to help you punch-up the holiday spirit at home even further.

On behalf of the Home Journal team, we wish you a very merry Christmas, and may your holiday be graced with happiness and joy.
