t the time of writing, it’s not yet clear if Donald Trump will continue his campaign to run for American president in t he 2016 elections. But by this ti me next year, t here will be another j ewel i n t he Trump crown—the first overseas outpost of Hong Kong’s Mott 32, due t o open in Trump I n t e r n a t i o n a l H o t ee ll & Tower Vancouver i n t he summer of 2016. It’s a testament to the success of the Maximal Concepts restaurant, a cleverrllyy modish take on contemporary Cantonese dininingng fused with devastatingly alluring i nteriors by Joyce Wang Studio.
It’s no wonder that Mott 32 took home a host of awards from us last year, including Best Interior Design, a Top 20 gong and the ultimate accolade: the Best New Restaurant prize, as voted by our readers. It wasn’t a surprise, though, for everything about the venture is done to a consistently high standard, from the evolving cocktail list to the tradition-skimming dim sum and twists on well-known Cantonese classics, all served in a space that still impresses with its East-meets-West sense of style.
