Ralph Lauren launches gift-worthy pieces for Christmas in line with its 50th anniversary celebration
Renowned for his luxurious and timeless designs, Ralph Lauren is marking five decades in the business in 2018. To celebrate his remarkable legacy, the house staged a fashion show earlier this year at the Bethesda Terrace in New York’s Central Park featuring models aged from two years to 70 strutting proudly to Americana anthems. Then friends of the icon, including Oprah Winfrey (who proposed a touching toast), Steven Spielberg and Hillary Clinton, dined around the Central Park fountain waited on by whitegloved waiters with musical accompaniment provided by a full orchestra—a Hollywood dream befitting an American legend.
The celebration continues with a series of 50th anniversary-themed festive products perfect for gifts, including a belt with a wrestling buckle engraved with the founding year, 1967, vermilion cowboy boots with hand-embroidered flowers, and, most notably, the Ricky bag. Named after Lauren’s wife and muse, the leather tote is made from 50 individual parts—each piece selected and affixed by hand in Italy—and the alligator versions require four skins. The accessories, like the brand, are made to last.
