200 Crazy for Cantopop Para Site fundraising gala dinner

A record HK$7.8 million was raised at this year’s Para Site fundraising dinner, which took place at Maxim’s Palace City Hall and was attended by more than 260 familiar faces from the arts, culture and creative scenes. The evening’s theme was Cantopop— evident from the vintage cassette tapes that took the place of table cards. Face masks of Cantopop stars such as Aaron Kwok, Jacky Cheung, Sandy Lam and Leon Lai assigned to guests doubled as paddles during the live auction. The hammer came down on 88 artworks donated by artists from around the world, including Chinese contemporary artist Yang Jiechang, American painter Sarah Morris, and the late American artist Terry Adkins. All funds raised on the night will go to the outreach programmes run by the contemporary art centre.
