A record-breaking HK$10.5M was raised for the Design Trust at the Ambassadors Ball
“Hyperenvironment” was the theme of the Design Trust’s annual Ambassadors Ball, which was held at the Kerry Hotel and presented by title sponsor Prada. Internationally renowned architects Rem Koolhaas, the founding partner of the firm OMA, and David Gianotten, OMA’S managing partner, were the creative directors and guests of honour. The evening kicked off with a cocktail reception during which guests, including Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam, Victor Lo and Rosanna Wong, were able to view the artwork to go under the hammer. Notable lots included works by Daido Moriyama and Joan Miró, and luxurious furniture by Poliform.
After cocktails, the guests entered a ballroom transformed into a neon green and pink wonderland that perfectly embodied the evening’s theme. High points from the dinner included the live auction, with Phillips’ Jonathan Crockett wielding the hammer. His lively and humorous banter with international news correspondent James Chau, who was the host for the evening, was entertaining—and lucrative, as over HK$10.5 million was raised, a new record for the Design Trust. After dinner, guests headed downstairs, where they were treated to an electrifying performance by DJS Mimi Xu, Benedict Ku, Diana d’arenberg and Edipresse Media Hong Kong’s Sean Fitzpatrick.
