奥什科什国际航空展将迎来五十周年AIRVENTURE OSHKOSH SETS STAGE FOR 50TH ANNIVERSARY

EAA Airventure Oshkosh, the world’s largest aviation gathering, outdid itself at its 2018 annual July fly-in, setting new benchmarks for both attendance and sheer spectacle in a week filled with thrilling air shows, a full schedule of presentations, thousands of fly-in visitors, and unique and historic aircraft on display representing the finest of the field’s past, present and even future. A surprise aerial display by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels demonstration team (performed en-route to a scheduled appearance) capped the excitement that filled the air at Wisconsin’s Wittman Regional Airport.

With more than 600,000 visitors over the week, the gathering broke its attendance record for the second year in a row.

“A perfect event may be unattainable, but Airventure 2018 came about as close as one could imagine,” said EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) chairman Jack Pelton, as the week wrapped up.

Among the show’s highlights was the One Week Wonder, a Van’s RV-12IS kit aircraft built from start to finish during the week by attendees overseen by EAA and Van’s experts. Anyone able to hold a rivet gun could be a part of the build project, which proved how easy it can be to build a kit airplane with the proper assistance and tools.

Several new aircraft made their world debuts, including from U.s.-based Vashon Aircraft the Ranger R7, a rugged, very affordable two-place sport aircraft with a Dynon glass panel cockpit. Vashon had been developing the aircraft in secret for five years before its Oshkosh unveiling.

此次展览的亮点之一当属“一周奇迹”——一架范恩RV-12IS装备飞机由与会者在一周时间内打造,整个过程有全美实验飞机协会与范恩飞机的专家监督。任何能够握住铆钉枪的人都可以参与,从而证明了只要有恰当的工具和指导,建造装备飞机其实并非难事。

Flying car developer Terrafugia, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, unveiled TF-2, an integrated urban air transportation system, consisting of a hybrid electric VTOL aircraft; a ground transport vehicle; and a passenger/ cargo pod, the system enabling the pods to be transported by ground and in the air among a network of vertiports. Terrafugia has set a “goal of having a flying vehicle by 2023, a company spokesperson said.

The 2,900-plus show planes on the field included more than 1,000 vintage aircraft and 1,100 homebuilts, along with ultralights, seaplanes, helicopters, aerobatic aircraft and hot air balloons.

Boeing Plaza, the massive tarmac at show center that hosts among the most honored of the display aircraft each year, presented a fleet including a restored 1928 LincolnPage LP-3, a vintage British Mosquito bomber – part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the UK’S Royal Air Force observed during the event - and a massive KC-135 Stratotanker from the U.S. Air Force.

Immediately adjacent Boeing Plaza, the China Pavilion, sponsored by Capital Jet in 2018, each year provides a vital conduit for forging bonds between the U.S. general aviation community and the People’s Republic’s developing GA community.

“My slogan in the China Pavilion banner is, ‘China is embracing general aviation. Discover your opportunity,’ said Taiwan-born Francis Chao, a longtime advocate of general aviation in China who established the Pavilion in 2012. “My purpose is to share with the rest of the world what China is doing, and what that means to the international aviation community.”

Already Airventure has had an impact in China, Chao said, noting that it now hosts some ten airshows annually. “They all want to be Oshkosh,” he said.

The international aviation community itself was well represented at Oshkosh, with 2,714 visitors from beyond U.S. borders registering at the International Visitors Tent, a new record.

By the end of the event more than 10,000 aircraft had flown into Oshkosh and surrounding airports, and flight activity at Wittman averaged an astonishing 134 takeoffs/landings per hour.

Visitors also spent untold sums on every imaginable aviation accessory, gadget and device – including airplanes – offered by the more than 850 vendors displaying their wares. The 1,500 workshops, forums and seminars covered virtually every aspect of aviation, and of flying, buying, building and maintaining an aircraft, drawing an estimated 75,000 attendees themselves.

It may have all just have been a prelude for what’s to come at Airventure this year, July 22-28, so mark your calendar. As Pelton noted at the show’s close, “We are celebrating our 50th consecutive year in Oshkosh during 2019.”

赵嘉国认为,航空大会已经在中国产生影响力,中国现在每年举办约10场航展。“这些展会都希望成为奥什科什,”他说。

奥什科什也见证了国际航空界的参与,共有2,714名来自美国境外的参会者在国际参展处登记,刷新展会记录。
