“They are here in the world as long as we never forget them.”
April 3-5 marked the Qingming Festival, also known as the Tomb Sweeping Festival, a traditional time in China for mourning the dead. Many across the country laid flowers at the tombs of martyrs who had sacrificed their lives in previous wars against foreign invaders. State-run newspaper the People’s Daily posted a picture of a martyr cemetery on April 3, saying that the martyrs have provided future generations with prosperous lives at the cost of their blood and called on the public to never forget them.
