Starting off a new year with so many reasons to be grateful for school

AFTER a great summer, I am now looking forward to getting back to school at YCIS Pudong Secondary.

Here is a list of some of the reasons why I’m eager to go back to school and also some very important things that people should know about the YCIS Century Park campus:

1. I am excited to go back to school to see my friends and hear about what they did this summer.

2. I also am looking forward to returning to some of the interesting classes. My favorite classes are Science, Chinese and Music.

3. Another thing I am excited about is going into Year 9. I start every new school year with lots of enthusiasm, because I know that each year holds new challenges and things to learn.

4. I am looking forward to seeing the teachers. I have lots of wonderful teachers who really go the extra mile to help me out.

5. Another positive thing will be meeting the new students and teachers. Everyone made me feel very welcome when I started at the campus and I can do the same with other new people.

6. One of the best things about the school is its great facilities, like the theater, the library, and the music rooms.

7. I am excited to try some of the many co-curricular activities the school offers. Last year, I did golf and bass guitar. This year I am going to try something different just for fun and to learn about something new.

8. Each year, the school goes on “Education Outside the Classroom” trips. It is always great to have the chance to see another part of China.

9. Hanging out with my friends during recess time is great.

10. And, finally, one of my favourite things at YCIS is being part of Boy Scouts. We meet at the YCIS Gubei campus. Going to school every weekend for scouts — when we’re not camping, that is — is one of the best things ever!

Those are just some of the many reasons I’m looking forward to the school year ahead. I hope everyone else who is returning to school is just as excited to return as I am!
