- Cai Wenjun

THE local health authority will evaluate private health checkups and invites the public to pass on pertinent information.

Clinic found to have unqualified staff will be warned. Facilities with poor performances and serious violations may lose their the licenses, said Shanghai Health Inspection Agency yesterday, following recent negative news about many private health checkups.

Zhang Ligang, CEO of iKang Healthcare Group, told a recent forum that some domestic health facilities did not do blood tests at all and faked reports.

Hiring unlicensed staff and nurses pretending to be doctors were revealed recently by the media, making the public seriously question facilities’ capability and ethics.

The health agency said there are 243 checkup locations in the city, 125 of which are private. Of them, the main business of 62 is checkups, 32 of which are part of a chain.
