Heavy accident road toll in Anhui

Eleven people have been killed and nine injured in two separate road accidents in east China’s Anhui Province.

A 23-vehicle pile-up on an expressway in Anhui left five people dead and four others injured early yesterday morning. The pile-up occurred at 5:12am on the Anqing section of the Yuexi-Wuhan Expressway linking the southwest part of Anhui with Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, according to traffic police from the city of Anqing.

Four people were killed immediatel­y while one died in hospital. The four injured are in a stable condition.

Another road accident occurred at 8:11am in Lujiang County in Hefei, capital of Anhui. Six people were killed and five others were injured after a minibus collided with a car on a highway in the county.

There has been snow and rain in the province.
