Home isolation is good enough in many cases
Sending all confirmed Covid-19 cases to hospitals and all close contacts to Penny’s Bay and other quarantine centres is counterproductive.
Given the comparatively mild nature of the Omicron variant, this adds an unnecessary burden to Hong Kong’s health care system and causes panic in the community.
It also deters people from coming forward when they have symptoms and risk being considered a high-risk contact.
We should have home quarantine for asymptomatic patients and close contacts who have had three jabs.
