ERIC GIROUD

-

WATCH DESIGNER

BACKGROUND

Born in Switzerland,

Eric Giroud was immersed in the world of arts and culture from a very young age. He cultivated his love of music, which he studied until the age of 20, then moved on to architecture, and dabbled in graphics, packaging and product design before establishing his own design agency in 1998.

CREATIVE PHILOSOPHY

Fuelled by his travels,

Giroud creates designs that have earned him numerous accolades. The world of watchmaking has become his favourite field of expression and he has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Harry Winston, Badollet and MB&F. Giroud’s creativity has been recognised for his work at Delaneau on the Rondo 36mm, which won the Ladies’ Watch prize at the Grand Prix d’horlogerie (GPHG) in 2013, and at MB&F for the Legacy Machine No. 1 watch, which won the Men’s Watch prize and the Public Prize at the GPHG in 2012.

LATEST COLLABORATION

Giroud’s most recent project

with MB&F is the Horological Machine No. 6 (known as the “Space Pirate”). With its space-age biomorphic case, the watch is capped top and bottom by transparent sapphire crystal domes. Indications rotate vertically, displaying hours and minutes, and the timepiece is driven by an automatic movement with twin spherical turbines. At the centre of the watch is a dome that houses a 60-second flying tourbillon. The Space Pirate, also known as MB&F Horological Machine No. 6, is a futuristic creation that evokes a sense of science fiction
