The Golden Glow

Lancôme helps bride-to-be for her upcoming wedding achieve a radiant complexion

Every bride dreams of looking radiant on her big day, but few know the products and techniques required to create that all-important glow. But as stylista Charlotte Hwang recently discovered, all you need is quality makeup and a few tricks of the trade. The fundraising director for charity Foodlink Foundation and owner of fashion boutique The9thmuse is preparing to get married this June and recently sat down with Lancôme and renowned makeup artist Gary Chung for some tips on how to achieve a golden, dewy complexion for her wedding day.

“Good skincare is about

knowing what your skin needs and responding to it. Asking people in the industry really helps,” says Charlotte. “I want my skin to be radiant and able to work with my makeup on that day.”

One of the many tips that Gary passed to Charlotte was to use a quality facial oil like Lancôme’s Absolue Precious Oil. A blend of rose essential oil and seven botanical oils, it is designed to replenish, pamper and transform skin, making it soft and luminous. Gary also recommends mixing a drop of oil into concealer and applying it around the eyes to lessen the appearance of wrinkles, especially as the bride will be constantly smiling for photographs that day.

“Facial oils are very versatile. You can use it all over as skincare or you can mix it with the foundation for a dewy look,” says Gary.

Gary also advises the use of a serum-infused foundation such as Lancôme’s Absolue Sublime Rejuvenating Essence Foundation, as he often comes across brides with tired skin on their wedding day, the result of the inevitable lack of sleep in the days leading up to the event. The foundation also contains specks of golden undertones that—when applied with a “kabuki brush”—can enhance Asian skin tones to achieve a golden, glowing complexion. The effect is especially prominent when paired with the Absolue Fond de Teint pressed powder.

“My skin is a little on the dry side so it is very important that I nourish and hydrate it, I feel that the serum-infused Absolue Sublime Rejuvenating Essence Foundation will work really well with my skin and help restore its luminosity. I’ve never experimented with facial oils before so it was interesting to learn about so many oil application techniques. In particular, I would like to try out his trick of mixing it with the concealer applied around my eyes.

“I’m glad I have Lancôme to rely on so my skin will look bright and luminous on my wedding day.”
