Lifestyle connoisseurs from The Racing Club got to experience the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai
For sports and car enthusiasts alike, the F1 World Championships are a spectacle of speed and skill, and a chance to see it live is a highly sought-after opportunity. The Racing Club, part of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, offered its young racing enthusiasts the opportunity to experience it in person at the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix that took place in Shanghai from April 10 to 13.
On race day, the pit building featured super-screens opposite the main grandstand. Members experienced the pulse-pounding excitement, with plenty of tricky turns, as they watched Lewis Hamilton set the fastest lap on his way to a fourth career victory in China.
During the tour, members were given numerous behind-the-scenes glimpses into the world-famous event, including an opportunity to visit the pit lane, where racing teams made last-minute preparations.
Members got to warm up before the race day with a visit to the newly opened BMW Brand Experience Centre in Pudong, the first of such facilities in Shanghai by the famed German automaker. Some of the members even took test drives of the latest models.
Also on the itinerary was a tour of Shanghai Volkswagen, a Sino-german joint venture capable of manufacturing 450,000 units a year—the largest output among its counterparts in China. Members learned how cars were made from scratch as well as the profound role played by China in the industry.
Beyond the asphalt on the racetrack, members of The Racing Club switched gears and spent a fun-filled morning at the Chinese Equestrian Association’s Shanghai Equestrian Centre. Then they visited Meadowbrook Equestrian and Rural Activity Centre to enjoy a sumptuous brunch and a bit of horseback riding.
The trip to Shanghai for four days of racing excitement was just one of many experiences through The Racing Club, where the young elite can join a community of likeminded enthusiasts and build friendships that go beyond the racetrack.
