was the magic number when the Guinness World Record for Most Consecutive Tennis Singles Matches was set at Sports for Hope’s charity drive in 2014
was raised by the Sports for Hope Foundation at the 2015 Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon A passionate athlete, Marie-christine Lee founded the Sports for Hope Foundation, a non-profit organisation that provides training facilities and assistance to secondary schools in poorer areas.
“I was brought up in a loving and generous family. Since childhood, I have been inspired by my parents to participate in sports, and this love of exercise has given me confidence and a positive mindset. My dream was to do something meaningful through sports and this came true when I founded the Sports for Hope Foundation in 2012. We raise money through sporting events that are outside most people’s comfort zones, like cycling 500km in three days on the Silk Road or breaking the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive tennis singles matches played. But even small fundraising events are very important to me and I’ve now dedicated myself entirely to the Sports for Hope Foundation. I scrutinise accounts and come up with initiatives, and am always looking for opportunities to raise money and awareness. I would never ask for anything for myself, but for the foundation I am shameless. We can make Hong Kong a better place through love of humanity and through caring, nourishing, developing and enhancing the life of financially needy and deprived children through sports.”
