HONG KONG BALLET BEATLES PREVIEW BENEFIT
Some of the standout looks—and there were many of them—when more than 360 people gathered at the Grand Hyatt for the Hong Kong Ballet Beatles Preview Benefit were Yuda Chan’s blue baby doll dress, Reyna Harilela’s shift dress, and the eccentric, colourful, bewigged ensembles that made Lumen and Andrew Kinoshita practically unrecognisable.
The outfits were a nod to the benefit’s theme, 1960s chic, in tribute to the Beatles and how their music and style helped define the decade. Stationed in the cocktail area, ballet dancers dressed to look like the Beatles were a magnet for selfie-shooting guests sipping on Perrierjouët champagne. And you couldn’t help but notice the statuesque models parading around the reception area in jewellery by Qeelin and carrying bags by Pernelle, the two main sponsors of the event. Inside the ballroom, the walls and screens were adorned with pop art inspired by the Beatles.
The formalities began with an opening address by the co-chairs of the Hong Kong Ballet Benefit Committee, Daisy Ho and Mira Yeh, who thanked everyone for their support and outlined the Hong Kong Ballet’s initiatives for the year.
Emcee Peter Cheung got the fun going with an entertaining dance-off, drawing the host of each table up on stage to Julian and Anne Liu
