When Worlds Collaborate
MODA OPERANDI ART BASEL VIP DINNER AND PARTY
A who’s who from the realms of art and fashion turned out in force for the Moda Operandi Art Basel VIP dinner and party, hosted by Lauren Santo Domingo, founder of online luxury retailer Moda Operandi, and François Curiel, Christie’s chairman for Europe and Asia
Lauren Santo Domingo, the founder of Moda Operandi, the first online luxury retailer to offer full collections straight off the runway, and François Curiel, Christie’s chairman for Europe and Asia, hosted a dinner at the Murray for a select group to kick off Art Basel. The dinner was the first of many such events planned to take place around the globe as part of a continuing partnership that brings together the worlds of art and fashion.
As guests enjoyed cocktails on the terrace of Tai Pan restaurant, Lauren and François made brief opening addresses. Then everyone moved inside to dine on a fresh garden salad, succulent beef tenderloin or sea bass, and a Valrhona bitter chocolate dessert that drew rave reviews.
Later in the week, Lauren joined Yana Peel, CEO of Serpentine Galleries in London, to host a private party at the Central hotspot Fools & Magicians. We spotted some familiar faces in the crowd, including Jaime Ku, René Chu and Calvin Wang, enjoying the fabulous cocktails. Things kicked up a notch when Mimi Xu, better known as DJ Misty Rabbit, took to the mixing deck, with the dancing going well into the early hours.
