ON MY WRIST
I’m wearing the new Jaeger le-coultre Polaris Chrono Black Dial. Inspired by the iconic Memovox Polaris watch from 1968, this re-edition is highly prized and hard to obtain—i was lucky to get my hands on one. I love the very clean design, the fit and feel of it, and I love that the watch was first launched during my birth year. It’s funny, though, that I’m still only 38 years old (hahaha).
HOLIDAY WATCH
I usually forego bringing watches on holiday because I don’t want to look at the time; I just want to to relax. Also, I don’t want to leave it in the hotel room, which I have done on a few occasions (argh!). So these days I just leave all my watches safe at home when I go on holiday.
BLACK TIE WATCH
I like a touch of bling on formal occasions. I love wearing my Pierre Arpels with diamonds watch by Van Cleef & Arpels; it’s elegant, flat, clean and simple, but sophisticated. It evokes for me an era of the true gentleman and is perfect with a tuxedo.
SENTIMENTAL REASONS
The watches my parents gave me at a very young age. There were many, but the one that I’m sharing with you is the beautiful Piaget Rectangle à l’ancienne XL, with diamonds. My Mom gave me this watch about 15 years ago as a birthday present, a very extravagant present, which I did not expect—as I was not celebrating a landmark birthday that year. I was having lunch with my mum and she just very nonchalantly gave the watch to me. “I got a little something for you … ,” she said, and I nearly fell off the chair when I opened it. Yes, I am very spoiled by my parents.
EVERYDAY WATCH
At this moment, my new Jaeger le-coultre Polaris watch (see above left) … I just can’t take it off. I love the design, the dial, and its look and feel—it suits everything I am wearing.
ON MY RADAR
I have always wanted a Jaeger le-coultre Reverso and I am eyeing the Tribute Calendar Pink Gold. I am celebrating a landmark birthday this year, so I think I will get it as a birthday gift for myself (even better if someone else gets it for me). I think I will definitely have it engraved with something to commemorate this year’s birthday, like “Forever 38! Love you, I mean it!”
