My Generation
Editor’s Note
What do actress Jessica Alba, the Hong Kong government and a bowling ball have in common? They’ve all been instrumental in making the past 12 months a massive success for Hong Kong Tatler’s Generation T. Now in its third year, Generation T is a platform that celebrates the young leaders of tomorrow not only in Hong Kong but across all eight Tatler titles in Asia.
As well as publishing the much-anticipated Generation T List each year in our June issue and online at hongkongtatler.com, the platform connects disruptive talents through forums, talks, networking events, charity projects and power lunches.
One such event takes place this month when Generation T Hong Kong teams up with Landmark to host a forum about sustainable living. Leading the conversation will be actress and eco-conscious entrepreneur Jessica Alba, who is best known for starring in TV series Dark Angel and films such as Sin City and Fantastic Four, but is also the founder of a billion-dollar ethical goods firm, the Honest Company.
The panel discussion will include Gen.t lister Luke Grana, the founder of sustainable apparel startup Grana, and will be moderated by Edipresse Media Hong Kong’s chief content officer and managing director, Sean Fitzpatrick. For more details about this invite-only event, turn to page 40, and read our exclusive interview with Alba on page 152.
It’s not just Hollywood stars who are building relationships with our Gen.t listers. In April we co-hosted a networking lunch with Invest HK, the branch of the Hong Kong government responsible for attracting foreign investment to our shores. It was an insightful and productive session that saw Gen.t listers such as Arthur Lam, Aaron Lee and Gary Ngan connecting with CEOS of businesses in the creative industries with a view to establishing partnerships.
And as for the bowling ball, well, as much as we love hanging out with celebs and business leaders, nothing, and I mean nothing, beats a spot of Hawaiian-style bowling, so back in December we invited our Gen.t listers to Tikitiki Bowling Bar in Sai Kung to raise money for charity while scoring a strike or two.
No wonder everyone wants to be a Gen.t lister! Turn to page 102 to find out if you’ve made the cut.
