TEA FOR LIFE
A gala dinner and charity event mark the grand opening of Korean beauty brand Amorepacific’s new store at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong
November’s Taste of the Precious gala dinner at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Hong Kong brought together celebrity and philanthropy in a show of compassion and generosity. Korean luxury beauty brand Amorepacific staged the event to celebrate the opening of its new store at the Mandarin Oriental and to raise money for the Chinese Global Music Education Association, which supports musical education for underprivileged children.
Co-hosted with the Mandarin Oriental’s two-michelin-starred restaurant Pierre, the event drew a host of celebrities including Amorepacific brand ambassador Cherie Chung, renowned pianists Liu Shih Kun and Samantha Sun, Cantopop singer Paula Tsui, actresses Aimee Chan and Eileen Tung, model Qi Qi Kao, and businesswoman Pollyanna Chu and her husband Nicholas Chu.
Pierre Gagnaire, one of the most celebrated chefs in the world, accompanied by Jacky Tauvry, prepared an exceptional four-course French menu for the event, featuring an array of green tea-flavoured dishes. Guests were also treated to a masterclass in tea appreciation and tasting, starring Amorepacific’s award-winning organic green tea.
Aside from being a luxury beauty brand known for its skincare products that are based on green tea, Amorepacific is also South Korea’s largest cosmetics company. The core and signature ingredient of Amorepacific’s celebrated skincare products are the young green tea leaves that are harvested from the company’s Dolsongi tea plantation on the island of Jeju. The tea leaves have to be hand-picked before 10am in early spring by tea masters and contain antioxidants that are 200 times stronger than Vitamin E, revealing an age-defying legend for timeless beauty.
During the event, guests were introduced to two of Amorepacific’s best-known and most prized skincare solutions, the Prime Reserve Epidynamic Activating Creme and the Time Response Intensive Skin Renewal Ampoule. Both products work wonders, and not just on the skin: they also added a glow to the Chinese Global Music Education Association, with Amorepacific donating part of every purchase of Prime Reserve Epidynamic Activating Creme at the event to the charity.
