EASY ELEGANCE
When it comes to juggling work and play, man about town Edwin Pun is an expert at achieving simple yet put-together looks
There’s an easy elegance to the way Edwin Pun carries himself. He’s always impeccably dressed, no matter the time of day or where he’s headed. As a director at Keyestone Properties overseeing the design and creative aspects of its commercial and residential projects around the region, he is constantly on the go—and still has time to attend some of the city’s most exclusive events.
“My routine is never the same,” he explains. “I usually have a few go-to pieces which are adaptable and easy to layer. For me, simple pieces work best.” He swears by “well-cut pleat front trousers, a crisp shirt in a white poplin or light blue linen, and beautifully made chunky derby shoes or simple white sneakers.” These could work for just about any occasion, he says.
Required to travel frequently, and to juggle boardroom meetings, site visits and evening soirees on any given day, Pun believes functionality and comfort are as important as aesthetics when it comes to his attire. “Comfort is key when you are always on the move,” he says. “I travel a lot, so easy separates with a tailoring slant work the best. I try to balance a lightweight charcoal grey suit with more relaxed pieces such as a navy T-shirt or a textured shirt.”
Pun considers his style to be on the eclectic side, which is perhaps what drew him to Paul Andrew’s fall/winter 2019 collection for Salvatore Ferragamo. “I love mixing structured and more formal pieces with elevated sportswear,” he explains, “and I favour simplicity and well-made pieces over seasonal fads.” Clean, polished and modern— it’s these touches that have drawn Pun, like so many, to Andrew’s collection. “His checkered coats could fit nicely into any wardrobe, and I love the elastic waistband detail on tailored trousers,” he says.
As for a favourite item from his shoot, Pun was quick to mention the outerwear. “I’ve always had a soft spot for a trench coat. For this coat particularly, I think the weight of the material makes the coat drape very nicely, and the leather details stitched through the coat give it structure. It’s an easy-to-layer item which can be dressed up or down.”
