EXPERIENCE MATTERS

For great event planners, the best way to master their craft and stand out from the competition is to constantly refine and improve their skill set. Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, with a three decade track record of planing successful events for satisfied guests, understands the value of new ideas in today’s experience economy.

A collaborative approach is crucial when creating a personalised event, and the golden rule is to make participation fun and inspirational. With that in mind, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong launched the Event Lab in June, a new and sophisticated creative space where guests can explore the hotel’s vast portfolio of event-related facilities, styling, design and decor options, and meet its talented professionals.

Designed to enhance the planning process for both social and corporate events, the Event Lab is a showcase for the Hyatt’s massive range of chinaware, glassware, napkins, linen, chair covers and decorative accents—and their endless mix-and-match possibilities. Clients can also view an extensive media library showcasing stage layouts, lighting effects, floral designs, colour palettes and styling elements, as well as examples of table settings and mood boards featuring real objects.

After the initial selections are made, ideas come to life in the Lab’s media showroom, where clients can view mockups and then fine tune for the look that will transform their event into a memorable experience.

The Event Lab is sure to be busier now with the recent debut of the hotel’s 2019-20 Romance collection for weddings and the Elements collection for social events—two concepts that were launched in August and can transform an event into an unforgettable experience.

Creating immersive multi-sensory experiences, the Romance wedding collection is inspired by art, with themes that include Renaissance, impressionism and contemporary styles, while the Elements collection uses imaginative concepts based on earth, metal, fire, wood and water to construct a unique atmosphere at social events.

Behind the scenes, some of the most influential designers and experienced professionals work with Grand Hyatt to craft events, in fields ranging from video mapping, music composition and floral arrangement to table styling, cake design and food styling.

Grand Hyatt Tokyo’s master florist Tsuneo Fujiyoshi, for example, creates floral works of art that elevate the romance and ambience at a wedding, while cake creation is in the hands of a Europe-trained designer, whose intricate sugar art has adorned a host of high-profile events and A-list celebrity weddings in Asia.
