Lightweight, springy and wrinkle-proof, the polyester Pleats Please pieces, made using a heat press that sandwiches fabric between two sheets of paper to make permanent creases, were one of Miyake’s pioneering inventions. They were so beloved and commercially successful that a sub-line was created with a menswear spinoff, Homme Plissé.
