Van Cleef & Arpels has continued its collaboration with renowned Korean photographer Younghee Suh. In 2019, Suh created a series of photographs that brought the maison’s extraordinary Heritage collection to life. And the following year, she shot two other series that resemble still life paintings, which showcased Van Cleef’s Lucky Animals line and its lacquered butterfly clips. Now, Suh shines a spotlight on the gold-drenched Perlée collection. For this, her fourth collaboration with the French maison, she decided to make use of pebbles and rocks, after finding inspiration during a trip to Mongdol Beach on Geojedo Island, South Korea.

“Each small pebble twinkled like gold beads when waves washed over them, reflecting the splendour of the setting sun,” Suh says. “Nature’s pebbles and rocks are popular materials among Asian artists, probably because they seem serene.”
