Heard around Hong Kong this month

NARY A MONTH GOES by without the release of another mindless Hollywood blockbuster featuring monsters beating each other to a pulp. But wait, what’s this? When the poster for the Godzilla vs. Kong poster was released last month, something unsettling caught our eye. The titular ape and lizard are pictured brawling amid a burning Hong Kong, with our beloved Four Seasons Hotel perilously placed in the middle of the conflict.

“We hope King Kong and Godzilla can come to the realisation that they are more similar than different and be friends,” says a hotel spokesperson. After The Rock’s laughable antics atop a beefed-up ICC in Skyscraper and Michael Bay’s butchering of the city’s skyline in Transformers: Age of Extinction, this is taking things a step too far. We hope the hotel has a cryptid contingency plan in place. Or perhaps it spies an opportunity to launch a spa package for stressed beasts.
