In many New Age shops, the process of purchasing crystals involves sifting through bowls of small, colourful stones. Hong Kongbased independent crystal dealer Stone and Star does things a little differently.

“Selecting and owning a crystal is extremely personal,” says Joyce Tsang, founder of Stone and Star, which takes a personal approach to helping serious collectors find speciality stones to suit their energetic and spiritual needs.

“In Hong Kong, we have a lot of requests for pyrite, as it’s a crystal known in feng shui for wealth and prosperity, and for being beneficial for business. It’s a very masculine, outwards-energy stone, which is good for motivation and creativity,” she says. “Other energies that are requested are love and emotional healing, anxiety relief, repelling negativity, harmony and support in meditation practices.”

Since launching Stone and Star in June 2019, the elusive crystal dealer has kept her operation small-scale, preferring one-on-one appointments with her buyers, and maintaining a close relationship with the miners, and their families, from whom she sources her otherworldly inventory.

“Every crystal has a story—each is a unique creation of Mother Earth, carrying her wisdom and connection onwards to us,” says Tsang. “The stones are kind reminders of how we are all connected, and how energy is always moving, flowing and exchanging, between us all.”

Here, Tsang introduces us to some special stones.

1 Needle Quartz And Calcite On Galena (Peru)

This stone encourages selftransformation, clarity of mind, grounding energy and stronger connection to intuition. Clear needle quartz also amplifies the energies of the galena and calcite.

2 Herkimer Diamond (New York, US)

Herkimer diamonds are only found in Herkimer County, New York. They are known for their water-clear brilliance and rainbow inclusions.

This high-vibrational crystal supports the connection between our spiritual and physical lives, promoting focus in a meditative state. It can purify negative debris within our auras, bringing us to higher states of self-acceptance.

3 Sweetwater Phantom Calcite (Missouri, US)

Sweetwater Mine in Missouri is known for producing “dragon scale” calcites with phantoms. It’s a highly collectible mineral in the crystal world because the pockets have been mined out.

Calcite is the stone of brilliance, supporting creativity, courage and confidence. The darker colours of calcite are used in shamanism for protection, wisdom and access to higher consciousness.

4 Golden Healer and Chlorite Included Himalayan Ice Quartz (Pakistan)

Himalayan Ice Quartz can only be hand-mined a few months of the year at high altitudes of 4,900 to 5,800 m, before being carried down without machinery.

This cleansing crystal brings light and purification into our space and encourages connection to our higher self. The Golden Healer and chlorite help to heal inner child wounds, holding space for deep emotional healing.

5 Pyrite (Peru)

A supportive crystal for the office or entrance of the home, Pyrite provides a layer of protection to the space or person carrying it. It is the stone for abundance, good fortune, prosperity, vitality and drive.

6 Kundalini Smokey Citrine Cluster (Democractic Republic of the Congo)

A joyful stone used for manifestation and to encourage optimism, creativity, inspiration, confidence and self-worth.
