WITH ITS WORLD-BEATING
public transport system, Hong Kong is one of the world’s most convenient cities to travel around. However, those seeking faster ways to move about town may soon have a new airborne alternative. Local start-up Seaplane Hong Kong is aiming to be the Uber of the skies with its fleet of on-demand, drone-like air taxis alongside aerial sightseeing services and private charter flights. “We can literally land on top of buildings,” says CEO Steven Cheung, who claims flights from Central to Tseung Kwan O will cut journey times down to six minutes. Test flights are expected to begin later this year. If you already have your wings and are in the market for a new job, Seaplane is looking to hire a pilot. Less reassuringly, it’s also hunting for an in-house lawyer.
