SOLE SEARCHING
In response to the social justice movements of the last few years, Christian Louboutin has partnered with his close friend and celebrity Idris Elba and Elba’s wife Sabrina to create a two-drop capsule. In one style, Louboutin’s elegant, classic heels are lined with the powerful statement “Walk a mile in my shoes”, in a call for greater empathy; while in the other, the Mandela’s Gold flower is used as a motif as a symbol of hope and freedom. One hundred per cent of the proceeds will directly go to five non-profit organisations like Be Rose International Foundation and Purposeful Foundation that serve causes from emergency aid to mentorship for girls in developing countries.
LESS IS MORE
As Jonathan Anderson increasingly opts for ballooning silhouettes and high-octane hues for Loewe’s latest readyto-wear collections, he is paring down the leather goods to simpler shapes, like its latest Goya bag, a new, minimalist, flapcover style that will launch in three sizes and various monochromatic hues like aqua and chocolate this month.
WORLDS COLLIDE
In a natural partnership, innovative German luggage brand Rimowa taps Londonbased cult accessories label Chaos for a limitededition line of suitcases and travel accessories this summer. Think: Rimowa’s classic Essential Cabin style splashed with pops of contrasting colour and strapped with multipocketed harnesses that can fit everything from laptops to water bottles. Chaos also lent its tongue-in-cheek humour to Rimowa’s luggage tags and stickers.
WINNING COMBO
Dropping this summer is Louis Vuitton’s second collection in collaboration with the NBA, inspired by the wardrobe of basketball players as they travel, play and attend press conferences. The line-up includes graphic, multicoloured letters scattered on blousons; boxy, Ninetiesstyle suits; and quilted joggers. Don Crawley, an expert on sportswear design, was also consulted to create the capsule’s Keepall, adorned with basketball netting.
