CHANGING CLIMATE, CHANGING LIVES FILM FESTIVAL
Novelist Christopher G Moore, who has lived in Thailand for more than 30 years, founded the country’s first film festival dedicated to climate change two years ago to give local youth and communities the opportunity to tell personal stories of how climate change has impacted their lives through short films. In 2015, Thailand was identified by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as one of the 16 countries that face extreme risks due to climate change within the next three decades; in its latest report last month, the IPCC predicts an increase in average temperature, rainfall, and sea levels in the region, reinforcing the importance of initiatives like this festival.
