The founder of Chinese mining company Fuli Gemstones on the Radiance collection, made in collaboration with British jeweller Annoushka

What do Fuli Gemstones and Annoushka have in common? We both share a passion for coloured gemstones. We also have traceability at the heart of our business models and believe it is important that customers know where their gemstones are coming from.

Tell us about Annoushka Ducas. She is renowned for injecting innovative ideas into her creations. Her designs for Radiance, which is our distinctive and eye-catching high jewellery collection, make our vibrant Fuli peridot the focal point. The resulting jewellery speaks for itself; it’s simply stunning.

What were the biggest challenges when creating Radiance?

Sourcing high-quality peridots in larger carat sizes because they are very rare.

What’s special about peridot? It’s an ancient gemstone that has been used for jewellery since the ancient Egyptians. Peridot is a natural gemstone and doesn’t need to be enhanced or treated, unlike some other coloured gemstones. It’s also unique in that its colour doesn’t change under light, which means they are just as vibrant at night as they are during the day.

Tell us something we don’t know about peridot.

Unlike many other coloured gemstones, peridot was formed much deeper in the Earth’s upper mantle, just like diamonds. Formed many millions of years ago, they were pushed towards the surface through volcanic activity.
