RIYA CHANDIRAMANI
Riya Chandiramani’s paintings explore themes with intricacy and wit. The notion of East-meetswest is embedded into the Hong Kong artist’s work, a pastiche of traditional and popular cultural references. Her mission is to bridge ideas of the past with those of modern times, while challenging constructs and ideals that keep us divided. Her current work explores the relationship between nourishment, the female body and power, confronting complex issues with humour, honesty and a hint of nostalgia. She created this month’s Alphabet City feature.
