The debut from this new innovative boating range is poised to become the envy of the yachting world
When the Wallywhy200 powers across the water, it inspires awe—the innovative motor yacht looks spectacularly sharp and sails with a sleek, confident grace. Fresh from its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2021, the first unit from the new Wallywhy range boasts the latest design by Luca Bassani, who teamed up with the Ferretti Group Engineering Department, alongside naval architects Laurent Giles NA and interior designers Studio A. Vallicelli & Co.
The “Why” in the name stands for “Wally Hybrid Yacht” while the “200” represents gross tonnes, the vast 20,000 cubic feet of internal space. It combines the comfort and space of a larger displacement yacht with the speed and performance of a semidisplacement: the yacht is capable of cruising at 23 knots due to four 1,000hp Volvo Penta D-13 engines, yet thanks to the fact its naval tank-tested hull uses fin stabilisers and two Seakeepers, guests enjoy comfort, stability, and a notable lack of noise. Measuring more than 27 metres long, with a hull length of less than 24 metres, the angular design, punctuated by a carbonfibre high top, is just a hint of what the array of features that lies below deck.
Beneath the tasteful glass and carbon dome and “Wally Silver” exterior are four cabins—including a 37 sq m master cabin; two guest cabins are on the lower level—with two bathrooms, and a stunning 270-degree view of the horizon. A laminated carbon staircase connects the three decks and serves as a central showcase for the massive 61-metre open-plan living area in the main deck, which includes a practical kitchen. Folding beach club bulwarks can also expand the living area into an innovative terrace on the water, with open space on three sides. Two garages with extensive storage space are also capable of hosting several water sports accessories such as wave runners, Seabobs and paddle boards.
Being far from shore shouldn’t mean losing complete contact with the rest of the world, so the yacht offers 5G wireless network connection throughout. A 55-inch TV in the upper living room and a series of premium sound systems throughout the Wally guarantee top-notch sound and entertainment, every sailing. And a timeless, neutral colour palette, combined with the extensive use of openpore teak throughout the interiors, makes for a soothing atmosphere.
Nearly 30 years since the first Wally set sail, the Wallywhy200 continues the brand’s award-winning tradition, with a visionary release set to create a new standard for life on the high seas.
