A team of volunteers, composed of youth cadres from organs directly under the CPC (Communist Party of China) Central Committee, began working as volunteer teachers, and doing what they can to help residents alleviate poverty, in Xibaipo, a town in Pingshan, a county in Hebei Province, 17 years ago. They have brought warmth and hope to the locals.

The rural-vitalization strategy, mentioned in the report to the 19th CPC National Congress, delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping, reflects the significance attached to rural work by the CPC Central Committee. One implementation principle of the strategy is to establish a team, composed of professional rural-service personnel, who have good knowledge of agriculture, and who love China's rural areas and care about rural people. Students from rural areas are the reserves for the team. So, it is significant to improve the quality of education in rural areas.

The first group of volunteers, composed of youth cadres from organs directly under the CPC Central Committee, was established 20 years ago. Each group
