Improving Federation's Handling of Women's Visits, Letters
To better protect grass-roots women's legal rights and interests, Qinghai (in Northwest China) Women's Federation has put a lot of effort into improving the work mechanism to handle women's visits and letters. For example, the federation's officials have arranged for volunteers, who are lawyers, to work at the federation, to receive calls and letters from residents of different regions in the province. By the end of April 2018, the lawyers had received 62 visits and/or letters (from the residents).
The federation's officials have also asked legal advisors to offer suggestions on how to properly handle residents' visits and letters that involve the protection of women and children's rights and interests. In addition, the officials have arranged for lawyers to call on residents who visited and/or sent letters to the federation, to see whether their disputes had been solved.
The federation in recent years has also provided online services to help women and children protect their legal rights and interests. The federation has handled women's "visits" through its video system and its hotline, 0971-12338, through which women and/or children can seek legal assistance in protecting their rights and interests.
