At Mizumi, four distinctly diferent experiences await discriminating diners.

Wynn lead barber Jessica alverez shares the secret of the perfect shave.

he perfect shave: It’s something all men ought to experience at least once. It’s also something we should know how to do—or at least approximate—but very few of us receive any sort of real training. Here Jessica alverez, lead barber at the claude Baruk salon at Wynn, talks about the great barbershop shaves available here (you can walk in or make an appointment), and how to bring some of that magic back home.

TWhat can a first-timer receiving a shave at Wynn expect? Are there different shave packages?

Whether you are a first-timer or a regular, we strive to provide a consistent five-star experience to everyone. a guest can expect a pampering experience with hot towels, warm lather, and citrus-smelling pre-shave oil used for prepping the skin for the smoothest shave from a straight razor. In the hands of a professional combined with the correct products for the skin, there’s no closer shave than with a straight razor. We have three shave options, and all choices include the use of hot towels, lather, and pre-shave oil. The single shave is for men with sensitive skin, shaving only with the grain. Our most popular is the classic shave. This is performed with and against the grain, resulting in a very close, smooth shave. The Deluxe shave is best described as our classic shave combined with a purifying clay face mask and a paraffin wax hand treatment. When it comes to ultimate pampering for men, the Deluxe shave is the best option.

The hot towel—functional or just a pleasant way to relax?

Both. It’s functional, since it opens up the pores and loosens the hair follicles, allowing for a closer shave and limiting irritation. It’s also a pleasant way to relax and it feels great. It can be closely replicated at home by wetting a washcloth and putting it in the microwave for a couple minutes. This method isn’t the same as using a steam cabi towel warmer, but it will get you close. n
