OWNED BY ILEANA CALDAS, AN ACCOUNTANT THAT BECAME AN ENTHUSIAST OF VINTAGE CARS AS INFLUENCED BY HER HUSBAND, THIS DODGE KINGSWAY 1958 FEATURES ONE OF THE HIGHEST ORIGINALITY AND FUNCTIONING QUALITY LEVELS WE HAVE EVER REVIEWED IN THIS COLUMN.

This car had a peaceful life for decades. Its first owner had a small Hillman and he used it on a daily basis because it was more economical. Therefore, the gigantic Dodge was reserved for Sunday rides. In the 1990s, Ramoncito –Ileana’s husband– found it. He heard that it was for sale and went there to see it. He always followed the “big, working or not” saying and the formidable Dodge is an excellent example of the golden age of U.S. huge cars. Since he was a mechanic engineer, he soon realized that, behind the worn vesture, washed-out chromes and old painting, the car was fine. He immediately made up his mind: he had to acquire the Kingway.
