FROM THE ENGINE, HAVE PUSHED CARMAKERS INTO WORKING ON ELECTRIFICATION AND HYBRIDATION. It is impossible to meet all these requirements by using the technology of conventional vehicles. On the other hand, going directly to powerful and purely-electric systems entails a significant investment without having a market that is ready to go for it. Therefore, they all have to make the most of medium technology, so traditional transmission chains can be progressively improved by replacing the alternator with a 48 V reversible electric machine. Unlike classic hybrid cars, 48 V models do not carry an electric engine, but the thermal engine is supported by the start-generator engine.
