Af­ter­wards, on May 29, 1916, he founded The Hershey Cu­ban Rail­road, an en­tity in char­ge of buil­ding a rail­road to es­ta­blish a com­mu­ni­ca­tion li­ne from the sugar mill to San­ta Cruz del Nor­te-ba­sed wharf, Ma­tan­zas city and Ha­va­na’s port, so the production could be trans­fe­rred. The train, which was open to the pu­blic in Sep­tem­ber 1918, was first po­we­red by steam, but in Oc­to­ber 1921 it became the first and only elec­tric train in our country: a ro­lling mu­seum.
