The turbocompound technology increases the power and torque of diesel engines. It makes the most of the surplus energy related to gases from the supercharger. We can have mechanical or electrical turbocompound, depending on the resulting energy. Its application boots the engine’s performance up to 10 %, while fuel consumption is taken 5 % down and the power goes 50-60 CV up. Such prestigious carmakers as Scania, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz are already using this technology.
