Desalia: Unlimited Pleasure

THE CARIBBEAN’S BIG ELECTRONIC MUSIC BASH –TRADITIONALLY HELD IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC- GOT ITS BIG BREAK IN SPAIN AND WILL SOON MOVE ON TO PORTUGAL

-

Beach, music, dancing and fun! The Caribbean's big party could also be the chance of your lifetime. Since 2007 at Cabeza de Toro, Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, thousands of people dress in white every year and together they live unforgettable experiences. They are deluxe hosts who turn this event into an electronic music reference.

That explains the ever-growing number of visitors who come from all around the world and land in the Dominican Republic not only to take a swim in its awesome beaches, stay at all-inclusive resorts or make a grand tour to fabulous Saona Island or to the Museum of Rum, but also to be the stars of the Desalia Music, Barceló Rum's celebration of choice and an ideal gathering to make the senses feel divine, let alone witness and have a hands-on attendance to peerless concerts. From the word go, that's been the idea of the island nation's leading rum-making company: to bring joy and happiness and good vibes, promote support and recognition to the music industry and to the new breed of performers. That's why major deejays and producers huddle in the Dominican Republic, boldface names like Dj Nano, JP Candela, Luiggi Nieto, Luke García, Bob Sinclar, Albert Neve, Calvin Harris, Wally López, Alexander Som and Miguel Lara, among many others.

During its tenth anniversary last year, Desalia Music was organized in Spain and its spirit swarmed over the beaches of Ibiza. It was completely different because it took followers aback by inviting them to jump on a cruise liner for six days. Aboard the ship, guests wallowed in theme nights and bigtime shows, alongside all the to-dos scheduled for each and every travel calls, which included the Desalia Challenge tests, a perfect option to let passengers have a lot of fun.

“After nine editions, the event has strengthened as a benchmark show around the world in terms of electronic music. Therefore, every year we try to reinvent ourselves and go the show one better as far as expectations are concerned,” says Candida Hernandez, a member of the festival's organizing committee, now that the big bash will venture out of the Dominican boundaries, away from the white sands, the tall coconut palm trees and the contagious Caribbean rhythm.

And since the latter is something way too hard to surpass, new initiatives have popped up along the way, such as the brand-new Desalia Talent show, aimed at boosting the career of unsung performers from the realm of music production and mixing. Contesters are handpicked from those who show to be better prepared to take the test and write a song of their own after being given a certain beat pattern.

IS IT IN EUROPE TO STAY?

From April 27 to May 1, 2018, the Barceló Rum's celebration will bring its moxie to Portugal. Youngsters have taken the reins of the event's organization and are calling the shots on the social media and the festival's digital portal. With that view in mind, they have rolled out a communication campaign spearheaded by McCann and MRM//McCann.

On Twitter, social networks' socialites have chosen a natural location full of sun and fun as the venue of choice. And the way to set this party going in full swing will be with a chill-out plan. Everybody's hoping to make fun reach its peak by the hand of the very best electronic music people can listen to.
