FROM LA PRADERA TO SAN DIEGO DE LOS BAÑOS, THE BEGINNING OF A THERMAL ROUTE

As of 2018, the San Diego de los Baños Spa is integrated as an exclusive service of the La Pradera International Health Center. Spa patients can enjoy two types of stay, one with a thermal treatment, and the other in the variant of a thermal route that includes the main health destinations taking advantage of the characteristics of its waters, their use and benefits for health. About these new services, Dr. Rafael Ledesma Rosa, President of the Cuban Society of Medical Hydrology, commented in an exclusive for Excelencias.

WHICH PUBLIC WILL THIS NEW SERVICE BE DIRECTED TO? The services in the spa meet objectives for international patients who come through health tourism programs and also for national patients referred from specialized consultations of the “Julio Díaz” International Rehabilitation Center and the Provincial Rehabilitation Center of Pinar del Río, where Patients are properly evaluated according to the type of program chosen, purely medical or tourist.

WHAT ARE THE MOST FREQUENT PATHOLOGIES TO BE TREATED IN SAN DIEGO DE LOS BAÑOS? Those pathologies that have to do with ostiomyoarticular problems, say tendinitis, bursitis, spinal pain, arthritic pathologies, respiratory problems, dermatological problems and neurological problems such as psoriasis. Its waters are also used in treatments for digestive and renal problems. This is a therapeutic means that constitutes a natural treatment to relieve the sufferings of those suffering from chronic pathologies that are difficult to treat with usual medicines.

THE EXTENSION OF THIS PROJECT MAY INCLUDE OTHER SPAS IN THE FUTURE In Cuba we have around thirteen spas of which four work properly. Cuba has more than one thousand four hundred springs of medicinal mineral waters, in which thermal centers of recreational character will be developed: something very attractive for international tourism. Practically in every province of Cuba, we have the possibility of developing the thermal culture and this is an attractive possibility that is currently considered.
