Trio seek sponsors for a ‘Brave Shave’

THREE events are lined up for the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2018 in aid of the Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips) with the first two to be held on Friday.

Three volunteers named as the “Three Brave Men” being Paul Lee, Art Watson and Martin Foster came up with the idea of shaving their heads or beards in support of cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy and lose their hair.

Their sponsored “Brave Shave” will take place on Friday, after The Abnormals’ Christmas show at The Venue restaurant in Esentepe, and anyone wishing to sponsor the volunteers can call 0548 861 4873 or email magicart@hotmail.co.uk.

The Abnormals’ Back In Time show, also in aid of Efrar and already almost a sell-out, is a combination of comedy and entertainment, including some “star” turns. It starts at 8.30pm and remaining tickets, at 10TL, should be booked by calling 0533 884 9816.

Efrar’s new year kicks off with one of the major events of the fundraising year: a car treasure hunt being organised for the fifth time – a “fun, challenging way to spend a winter Sunday”, said Efrar 2018 committee chairman Mary Watson.

Competitors will gather at Stevie’s restaurant in Küçük Erenköy from 11am on Sunday, January 7, to register and prepare for a noon start.

The challenge will consist of three sections; an observation test, “treasure” hunt and quiz, and will be followed by an optional twocourse Sunday roast back at the restaurant.

Registration costs 50TL per car of up to four people and the lunch is 45TL, part of which will be donated to Efrar. Early booking is advised, and to book a place for either, call 0533 849 4744.
