An enjoyable throwback to those old Capra comedies of years ago where middle class smarty pants, like Doris Day or Katie Hepburn, face setbacks but always came up smelling of roses and money.
Diane Keaton is JC Wiatt, a high-powered ad exec whose life is derailed by baby Elizabeth. Her yuppie boyfriend Harold Ramis walks out of their swish apartment and her boss, Sam Wanamaker, forgets all about a partnership he had offered. JC quits her job.
She moves into a new world of nappies and baby foods in an old farm house in New England. Lots of amusing chaos but every cloud has a silver lining. Our heroine finds consolation with dishy local vet played by Sam Shepard and starts making her own baby food. Guess what? Her gourmet kiddie snacks take off and she makes a fortune. Directed and co-written by Charles Shyer in 1987.
