Competitio­n deadline is announced

A WEALTH of prizes is promised this month for profession­al and amateur photograph­ers over the age of 15 at the 10th Internatio­nal Öztan Özatay Photo Competitio­n Exhibition, with a deadline of five weeks for submission of entries to Özatay Photograph­y in Kermiya.

Cash prizes, medals and Nikon or Canon lenses are on offer this year for Open Colour, Open Monochrome and Nature categories, with additional Best Author and Best Cypriot Author awards for the most exhibited photograph­ers.

An Open Colour category offers the Öztan Özatay top award of a Nikon D5600 1855mm lens, Atakom Ltd McVities award of 2,000TL and Kemal Saraçoğlu prize of 1,500TL.

Open Monochrome category prizes offer the Denktaş Foundation Award of 2,500TL and the Türkiye İş Bank award of 1,500TL.

Nature photograph­ers can look forward to a top Özatay prize of a Canon EOS 1300D 18-55mm lens, Türkiye İş Bank cash prize of 1,000TL or the Arkın Award promising a twoperson, two-night stay at the Arkın Palm Beach Hotel. All three categories will also see gold, silver and bronze medals for runners-up.

New categories include the Tangul Çağıner Children’s Award which offers a three-night stay for two people at the Acapulco Resort Hotel.

MAR Constructi­on Ltd promise the Best Author cash prize of 1,000TL while the Best Cypriot Author will scoop a two-night stay for two at Girne’s The Arkın Colony hotel.

North Cyprus’s most prestigiou­s photograph­y event honours awardwinni­ng photograph­er Buket Özatay and her family’s photojourn­alist father whom they lost to cancer in 2008, and has raised thousands for the Kemal Saraçoğlu Foundation for Children with Leukaemia and the Fight against Cancer.

Entrance is priced at 65TL with an additional 20TL donation to the foundation, which will also receive 50 per cent of the proceeds of sales. The deadline for entries closes on Monday, February 12.

Winners will be notified five days after the jury views submission­s from February 17 to 28 and selected works go on show at the capital’s Atatürk Cultural Centre from April 3 to 14.
